Today Edmonton City Council voted unanimously in support of a process shown to have been a deception of Edmontonians in which public engagement was very deliberately sidestepped.
I'm extraordinarily disappointed in our "democracy" today. City Council's decision on Century Park smacked of corporate croneyism bordering on outright fascism. I wonder how much each of our councillors was paid to vote this way. On one hand I'm extraordinarily tempted to look. And yet on the other, there is this weighty and depressing realization that even if I expose outright bribery, it will not likely change a single outcome of our broken "representative democracy" in the upcoming election. So why the heck bother?
I'm too disgusted to continue. I think I'll go home and attempt to force vomit the proceedings of this afternoon's council session out of my consciousness.
